Sports Medicine

Gary Beatty ATC photoSTAR Physical Therapy is committed to providing industry leading Sports Medicine care, both in the clinic and on the field. STAR’s team of Certified Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists has worked with athletes of all ages and levels of play – from “weekend warriors” to middle and high schools to elite Olympic and professional athletes. We serve all athletes with industry-leading Sports Medicine care in clinical and athletic settings. Sports Medicine encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Certified Athletic Trainers are licensed health care professionals who work in a variety of settings throughout the community – in schools, at sports venues like D1 Nashville, at recreation centers, in physician’s offices and in Physical Therapy clinics. They collaborate with other members of the health care team (physicians, physical therapists, coaches, etc.) to improve function and return patients to activity in a quick and safe manner. Injured athletes may receive Sports Medicine treatment on the field or in the training room. Athletes that require more comprehensive rehabilitation may be referred to one of our Clinics to complete formal Physical Therapy. Certified Athletic Trainers can also assist schools in acquiring volume bid pricing through preferred sports medicine supply vendors as well and help establish a manageable Athletic Training supply budget. In addition, Certified Athletic Trainers can coordinate Pre-Participation Examinations (Physicals) for school aged athletes in conjunction with area physician groups.
