Haiti Mission Trip Reflection – Lora Pickering

Haiti Mission Trip Reflection – Lora Pickering

This is my first mission trip. Doing something like this has weighed heavy on my heart for a couple years and I’ve been very honored that I was able to go on this one and very thankful that I work for a company that allows their employees and encourages their employees to do this kind of work. It started with a beautiful sunrise and the fellowship of seven strangers bonding together creating lasting friendships. Then it was further welcomed by the joyous singing and affection of the kids in Haiti at the Live Beyond compound.
We saw how these people live in complete poverty, illness, persecution, and the unknown. It was a blessing to be part of a team that shares the gospel and provides medical intervention to this community of Thomazeau. Working mostly with the kids, it was inspiring to see that despite their struggles, they have a presence of hope and joy. It’s evident there is an uprising of the Holy Spirit taking place in this area. It’s a beautiful site to see these kids being lifted up as disciples of the Lord to make a change in there community.

John 13, 34
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
