Haiti Mission Reflection from Elizabeth Holman

Haiti Mission Reflection from Elizabeth Holman

2017 Haiti_ElizabethHolmanGoing to Haiti was a large step outside of my comfort zone. I went because that was what God was calling me to do. After being there for 2 days, I knew I had done the right thing and God had a purpose for me being there. I was there to learn more about him and to grow my faith. Yes, I helped the Haitians while there but I feel like they were a much bigger blessing to me then I was to them. I discovered the true joy in Christ through the Haitians. The Haitians who had become Christians had a look of Joy on their faces that I will never forget and very rarely see here in the United States. This amazed me because these people have very little. They have no electricity, no running water, live in houses that nobody here would want to live in, and some don’t even have food. Yet, they have a joy that you only obtain by living in God’s presence. I felt like I was truly in God’s presence among these people. I hope I was able to make a small impact on their lives because they made a large impact on mine.
