Cancer Care

STAR Physical Therapy recognizes the special rehabilitation needs of the cancer patient. We have developed a specialized program to help address the varied and unique physical challenges that may arise from the treatment of cancer. Our focus is on bridging the gap between these possible physical disabilities to the quality of life you desire with an emphasis being placed on each patient's needs.

Each patient will undergo a thorough physical evaluation by a licensed physical therapist. This will include examination of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and nervous system.

Goals will be established, a treatment program will be designed and the frequency / duration of physical therapy will be determined based on the patient’s specific needs. Treatment may focus on low impact cardiovascular exercises, strength training, range of motion and stretching activities, balance enhancement and task-specific training.

Physical therapy will continue as needed and as personal independence is gained, the patient will progress from a supervised rehabilitation environment to a personalized home exercise program. Our goals are to restore function, increase strength, range of motion and endurance, and to enhance the quality of life for each of our patients.
